The weight management industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Consumers are moving away from quick-fix solutions and crash diets toward scientifically validated approaches that deliver sustainable, long-term results. According to Glanbia's research, over half of adults are actively managing their weight, with 18% of U.S. consumers now using GLP-1 medications — up from just 10% in 2024.

This shift reflects a broader understanding that effective weight management is not about deprivation but about smart, science-backed strategies. Behavioral changes such as portion control, increased exercise, and nutrient-dense product choices remain central to success. For 38% of consumers, weight-loss bars and snacks continue to be part of their daily routine.

The trend toward "empowering healthy weight" has also transformed what consumers expect from products. Nutrient-dense formulations are now in high demand. Among GLP-1 users, 53% prioritize increased protein intake, 52% seek more vitamins and minerals, and 45% focus on higher fiber content. These choices reflect a growing awareness that weight management is part of overall wellbeing — including energy, mobility, and healthy aging.

Consumers are increasingly seeking products that work harder nutritionally, delivering more value per calorie or serving. This opens the door for brands to develop supplements and functional foods positioned as long-term health tools, rather than quick fixes.
